Story
I am raising money for Young Lives vs Cancer by running the 2024 London Marathon.
Almost every family has experienced cancer in some form. CLIC Sargent (now called Young Lives vs Cancer) helped my family above and beyond their duty. My sister, Ayesha, was diagnosed with cancer at 22 and CLIC Sargent supported her and my parents from the start. They also supported my mother after her own diagnosis, despite not being their role to do so. This charity has a special place for me and my family and I hope to show a small percentage of my appreciation, by raising money for them.
For those who do already know, I am not a runner. Despite previously cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End (including climbing the 3 peaks on the way down) in 14 days, this marathon may be the hardest thing I'll ever physically do.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
At Young Lives vs Cancer, they help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but they can’t do it without you.
