Literature searching using Ovid databases (Medline, Embase, PsycINFO) - face to face session In-Person
Ovid is a popular platform for advanced literature searching, and hosts a number of widely used bibliographic databases including Medline, PsycINFO, and Embase.
During this practical face to face session we will look at the main features and functionality of the Ovid platform, including keyword and subject heading searching, constructing a search, saving a search and finding the full text, with time for attendees to practice searching. Please note the session has a biomedical focus and covers only Medline, Embase and PsycINFO.
This session will cover:
- Searching using keywords and subject headings;
- Constructing an effective search strategy;
- Applying Limits;
- Saving a Search strategy;
- Finding the full text.
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Run an effective literature search in the Ovid platform;
- Understand what MeSH terms are and how to use them;
- Print, save and email your references;
- Save your search.
