Unfortunately the Hotel was the epitome of Nottingham itself..... run down, old & seen better days Once we had fought our way through all the smack heads and & rough sleepers, we were met by the beautiful view of scaffolding enveloping our place for the night. Upon entering the reception, the decor was dark & uninviting - we could see there had been some effort to modernise & try and bring this building into the 21st century, unfortunately the trick of rolling dog turd in glitter can quite easily be seen through.... the hotel seemed to be quite proud of the fact that some past dignitaries have used this facility - however the days of Robin Hood are gone and there aint no Kings staying here anymore - time to move on.. the reason for the scaffolding became apparent as we walked around the hotel, obviously to fix all the leaks & running water coming from above. From the creaky floors to the wonky stairs... this place would be better off being a Museum rather than a Hotel I booked one of their more expensive / prestige rooms - OMG i dread to think what the standard rooms may have been like. The smell of mould & fust hit you upon entering the room, therefore we opened the window to let some fresh air in.. only to be greeted by the metal bars of the scaffolding. Not even a coat hook anywhere to hang your coat, therefore the only option was to drape over some old dusty leather boxes (which i assume were meant to be atmospheric..LOL) The only redeeming feature of our stay was that the staff were friendly & helpful and the Breakfast. A lovely room and good choice of food & great English breakfast !!

I’m glad I didn’t read the reviews on here before I booked or I probably wouldn’t have booked it! However, our stay was absolutely fine. We stayed in a king size room 202- the view wasn’t great and looked out on to all the pipe work and extractor fans but tbh we weren’t there to sit and look at the views- we just closed the curtains! The hotel is in an ideal location for everything in the city! Yes it’s noisy around but that’s what I’d expect with a city centre hotel that’s buzzing with nightlife so that didn’t bother us at all! We had a courtesy call from Chris prior to our stay informing us of scaffolding and the removal of it during our stay which we felt was very good of the hotel and again, it didn’t bother us! Yes, the hotel is tired with a few worn down bits of furniture and need of some tlc in areas but I wasn’t booking the ritz. It was clean, spacious with very friendly staff and was ideal for our city centre night out and stay!!

Not the best. Hotel is run down, dirty and damp. We had to move rooms because our shower was freezing and the room was a mess. Moved to another that smelt fusty and had mould in the shower. Paid extra for a privilege room and ended up with dirty, creased, dressing gowns and a couple of cans of pop. We stayed here 5 years ago and it was lovely but nothing has been done to the hotel except patch things up and it shows. Paint peeling everywhere, dirty carpets, scuffed skirting boards, smells of smoke and damp all over, lift out of order. Breakfast was a let down, no buffet service, had to order before we sat down and it was so heavily microwaved it was inedible. The noise from outside, although not the hotel’s fault, was off the scale. To say we won’t stay there again is an understatement.

Your reception staff are a credit to your organisation- welcoming, warm and professional. My only criticism is that the room I stayed in was in need of a good dusting- light fittings, bathroom shelves etc
