German-born designer Robert Geller has joined Rag & Bone as its new Head Menswear Designer.

Geller began his journey with Rag & Bone last fall, working quietly behind the scenes. His debut collection for Fall/Winter 2024, which will be shown in New York, Chicago and Paris, is highly anticipated. Geller’s approach is deeply rooted in quality and authenticity, and aims to redefine men’s fashion with a blend of comfort and confidence.

A 2001 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Geller’s career has been marked by his time at Marc Jacobs and Cloak, and most notably his own collection, which launched in 2007. His notable contributions to menswear earned him a nomination for the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year Award in 2017. He also expanded his repertoire with a denim collection in 2015.

Andrew Rosen, chairman of Rag & Bone, expressed his excitement about Geller’s arrival: “I am pleased to announce Robert Geller as Rag & Bone’s new menswear designer. Robert has been working with the team since September 2023 and his creative vision will undoubtedly lead Rag & Bone toward a new and very exciting chapter.” Rosen, who has followed Geller’s career since he was a finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2010, believes Geller’s appointment will propel the brand to greater heights.

Geller’s reverence for Rag & Bone dates back to its inception. His goal with the upcoming collections is to bring a sense of ease and innovation to the brand’s core pieces. ”My objective with the collections is to introduce a renewed sense of ease, and to evolve the beloved core pieces by incorporating refined and innovative fabrics into well-made clothes that will enable men to move through life confidently, matching the grit and edge of the New York City spirit,” he said.

His inaugural collection focuses on fit and silhouette, harmoniously blending ready-to-wear with sportswear and putting a fashionable twist on denim. Outerwear, a critical component of the collection, will see updates including wool parkas and transitional pieces that exemplify Geller’s vision of sophisticated yet comfortable menswear.

Kyle M. Sweeney, senior vice president of men’s design and merchandising at Rag & Bone, is confident that Geller’s role will foster innovation and inject new creative vitality into the brand. This partnership is part of a broader strategy to take Rag & Bone’s menswear collection into the future while respecting its rich and illustrious past.

Rag & Bone was founded in New York in 2002 by Marcus Wainwright and David Neville, who met as teenagers in England. The brand has evolved from its humble beginnings. Originally focused on menswear, the brand now offers a wide range of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, denim, accessories and footwear. The company operates 36 stores in the U.S. and U.K. and is also available in specialty and department stores in more than 53 countries.

Neville left in 2016 to work more closely with his wife, Gucci Westman, and her beauty brand. Wainwright stepped down as chief brand officer last summer.
