About this event

The UK is experiencing an energy crisis with fuel bills increasing and use of fossils fuels contributing to climate change.

Key to tackling the crisis is to generate more of our energy from renewable sources like wind or sun. Developing these resources can lower our fuel bills, reduce carbon emissions and increase energy security.

If you can't make the event, but would like to receive a survey and information about the workshop outputs, please share your information in this short form and we'll be in touch after the workshop.

What is the workshop?

Sustainable Thornbury invites you to join this interactive workshop to share your thoughts on community energy in the Thornbury area, getting your views as local people. The workshop is not in connection with a particular planning proposal or project – it is a hypothetical and exploratory session.

Sustainable Thornbury has partnered with the Centre for Sustainable Energy who will help deliver this workshop. This project is funded by Bristol Energy Cooperative.

What will happen in the workshop?

It will explore:

• What is community energy?

• What types of community energy could be acceptable in your area?

• Where community energy generation might be roughly located.

• How your community could shape and benefit from energy development.

• What you can do to save money on your energy bills.

The workshop is aimed at anyone who lives or works in the Thornbury area. Everyone is welcome - if you have an opinion on community energy, we want to hear it. You don’t need to know anything about community energy as there will be information provided during the workshop.

What happens after the workshop?

After the workshop, a written summary of what was discussed will be shared with those who attended, and will be made publicly available. A survey will then be shared, for people who weren't at the workshop to add their thoughts and ideas to what was discussed.

We hope to see you there - book your free spot by getting a ticket via this event page.
