It’s been an interesting showbiz journey for Sudhanshu Pandey, who started his career with films two decades ago. Currently, the actor is busy with his TV show Anupamaa and is content with the audience’s response to his character, Vanraj Shah. Along with acting, Sudhanshu is equally passionate about music. He was part of A Band of Boys, which was formed in 2001.
Though he quit the band sometime later to pursue acting, he admits that singing will always remain his first love. “Music and singing come from my heart. It’s something I am very passionate about. I can never lose touch with singing and want to focus more on that, too. Music feeds my soul, and it is almost meditative for me. I haven’t learnt classical music aur maine kabhi bhi riyaaz nahi kiya hai. I am blessed with a decent voice and have not used autotune to date,” he says.
Meanwhile, in his show, Anupamaa, newer tracks and characters have been introduced. With screen time divided among many characters, actors are bound to feel insecure. Ask him about this, and he says, “I have never been insecure about anybody entering the show… that’s not in my nature. Even if I have less screen time, it doesn’t really change things for me. It also doesn’t change the fact that I was the first actor that Rajan Shahi (producer of the show) approached before he had pitched the show to the channel,”
He adds, “Being part of a show like Anupamaa has been a blessing for me and everyone associated with it. The show has been on air for over three years, and the story is bound to go through changes. The makers have to keep manoeuvring the story and the screenplay based on the audience’s reactions. The show can’t focus on one person as that can get boring for the viewers.”
