How to write hooks that grab attention every single time. You sometimes take hours to write one LinkedIn post. You use: - time - energy - brain power Yet that post falls flat. Only few people pay attention to you. You're not getting leads too. Here are 3 ways to write hooks that ALWAYS grab your reader's attention. ♐ Use pain-driven hooks Start by talking about a problem your reader has. That way, your post resonates with them INSTANTLY. There's no better way to get into the mind of your reader than to talk about their problems and offer a solution. Ex. Are you worried that TOO FEW people are reading your posts? ♐ Start with "how to" Identify a challenge that your reader is facing. Then write a post on how they can overcome that challenge. Starting your post with "how to" shows your reader you're sharing a solution to one of their problems. Plus, you get to show your expertise and build trust. ♐ Use "without" Write your hooks like this. How to achieve (desired outcome) without (doing X). Ex. How to create a LinkedIn funnel without spending a dime. You're offering a solution with a price tag attached to it. Only you're offering it at no cost. Of course, more people would like to read that You want to be careful not to overdo this one, though. The secret to grabbing the attention of your readers? I published 500+ posts on LinkedIN Here's 10 things I'd recommend doing: 1. Have fun with it My best posts were written in the spur of a moment, about that made me chuckle. Or something that pissed me off a bit that I turned into a satirical post. Don't just post the dry stuff. Be silly with it. 2. Batch your content When you're in the flow, don't you dare stop writing. Get a tool like Buffer and schedule your content. 3. Analyze what works I use ShieldApp to analyze what worked in the past. The best posts I rewrite with different hooks, views or I add more juice to the content. 4. Use CTA's, but... Don't have a standard 'signature' with some generic contact information. Make the CTA relevant. Also don't always link to your website, sometimes ask people to follow you, or to engage in the discussion by commenting on your thoughts. 5. Share value Don't rely on tricks and templates. Figure out what unique perspectives you have to share and structure these into easy to read posts. 6. Entertain the people You can't just drop listicles every day. Share your fuckups, stupid business ideas and memes that crack you up. 7. Make people think I love writing posts with some contrarian point of view that make people think. Whenever I get a compliment via a DM, it's mostly because I struck a chord doing this. Add some depth to your posts by posting deep thoughts and underpin your theory with interesting facts. 8. Write scroll-stopping hooks Doesn't matter how brilliant your post is, without a magical hook it'll not get views. You have to invest some time into writing the perfect hook for your post. The first two lines are crucial for your posts' performance. 9. Format your posts Formatting matters. Use short sentences. Easy to read words. Compact paragraphs. Use bulleted lists to break up text. Don't forget to add ample whitespace. 10. Slide into DMs One of the best outcomes of my activity here has been to get in contact with people who inspire me. I even founded two businesses with people I met through LinkedIN, on which I'll post more in the future. Recently I switched from Dutch to English. 👨💻 Posting...some do, some don't and some are unsure how... 📈 Whilst the stats vary, roughly 1% of LinkedIn users post regularly... 👀 Which means 99% are spectators... 🤷♂️ So why post? what do you post about? And how do you post? __ 🤔 First, ask yourself... 1. Why are you on LinkedIn? 2. What do you want to get from it? 3. To the answers above ask 'will posting help?' -- if 'yes' you now have your post content... __ 💰 The million dollar question - how do you post? 🧘♂️ I am no LI guru, but the following works for me... I put out roughly 1 post a week, rookie numbers, but do what works for you. 💡 Post Idea - I get ideas for posts through experiences, conversations, observations, future ambitions and past reflections. ✏️ Drafting - Once I have the idea I draft the post over the week using notes on my phone -- The daily commute on the tube is a great time for this. 🏗 Post Structure - I generally follow the below post structure: [Headline] Couple of words or sentence that gives the hook to the post [Overview] Hit the headlines of what the post is about -- short sentences [Detail/Purpose] The purpose of the post and what the reader can take from it -- the next steps or call to action 📸 Photo - I find and use a relevant photo to add to the post -- I normally edit on 'Canva' (the free edition) to add to the message...a picture paints a thousand words. __ ❌️ So why don't people post? 🤫 Seems weird on a professional networking platform that people don't talk... 🫣 Maybe it's the fear of what others will think 😬 Will it get any views, likes, comments ...and if you are thinking this, post about it, guaranteed others are too. __ 🛠 LinkedIn is a tool. You can choose to use it or not. 🤷♂️ Using it can aid in achieving your goals, if you don't it won't. Simple. 📢 Come join the conversation. Tell your story.
