16 people confirmed dead in Rwanda boat accident
Sixteen people are now confirmed dead from a Friday evening boating accident in Rwanda. after a boat capsized on a river in eastern Rwanda, an official said Sunday.
The accident occurred on the River Mugesera in Rwamagana District.
Rwamagana District Mayor Radjab Mbonyumuvunyi told Xinhua that the boat was overloaded with passengers and agricultural produce, as well as several other people who were returning from harvesting their produce across the river. The boat ran into heavy winds while heading to Rwamagana District and capsized before it sank, according to local officials.
