Security forces in Kirkuk detained a man suspected of helping Peshmerga officer Derin Ahmed. The suspect admitted to assisting Ahmed, saying that he initially transported him to Kirkuk in a pickup truck, then to Baghdad, before Ahmed departed for the UK by air.

The man arrested in Kirkuk is being investigated under Article 273 of the Iraqi Penal Code, which addresses the offense of harboring suspects.

According to Channel8 information, Derin Ahmed departed for the UK from Baghdad International Airport via Royal Jordanian Airlines.

Following Ahmed’s escape, the Iraqi Military Aviation Authority initiated an investigation into individuals who permitted the suspect to board a flight despite being wanted by the court and having an active arrest warrant that had been transmitted to the airport.

An inquiry has been launched involving several employees at Baghdad and Jordan international airports, resulting in the arrest of several individuals at Baghdad airport.

The Kurdistan Regional Security Agency issued a statement on February 12, revealing that local businessman Ahmad Kamil Faqe was shot and wounded following orders allegedly issued by Derin Ahmad, also known as Kwekha Derin Ozeri.

Security forces seized the belongings belonging to Ahmed in the Kalawanan region situated in the northwestern area of Sulaymaniyah, and used demolition vehicles to destroy Derin Ahmed’s fortress-like residence.
