RENO, Nev. - Coming off their most successful tournament since October 2022, the Nevada Women's Golf team will return to the course just six days after taking second-place at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, as they are set to compete at the Golf Iconic Classic, hosted by New Mexico State.
Nevada had a tremendous outing at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, fueled by Leah John's second individual title throughout her career. John was immaculate, carding rounds of 73, 72, and 66 to conclude the event at -5. As a team, Nevada finished the tournament at +5 to earn the second-place finish.
Tournament Info
The Golf Iconic Classic is a three-day, 54-hole event hosted by New Mexico State at the NMSU Golf Course. Tournament play is slated to begin Monday morning with a shotgun start set for 7:30 a.m.
The Field
Outside of Nevada and host school New Mexico State, the 16-team field consists of Boise State, Boston College, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Long Beach State, MTSU, Northern Arizona, San Francisco, Southern Utah, Texas A&M CC, UC Davis, UT Arlington, UTEP, and UTRGV.
The Course
The NMSU Golf Course is a par-72 spanning 6,420 yards. It has been rated as a top-25 collegiate golf course in the country and a top-10 course in the state of New Mexico by Golfer's Choice.
Projected Lineup
Leah John
Coming off one of the best performances of her career, Leah John will lead the Wolf Pack lineup at the Golf Iconic Classic. John has been stellar this season for the Pack, earning a T7 finish in Nevada's season-opening tournament before securing the individual title last weekend. John has an average score of 70.8 this season and is averaging 13 pars and 5.7 birdies per round.
Gabby Kano
Kano is also fresh off one of the best performances of her career, as she earned the second top-10 finish of her career after finishing tied for eighth at even-par. Kano fired off rounds of 71-70-75 to earn the T8 finish. The sophomore is averaging an impressive 5.7 birdies per round.
Nikki Chindavong
Chindavong has been exceptional in her first collegiate season, and she is coming off a T10 finish at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, marking the first top-10 finish of her young career. The freshman carded rounds of 72, 73, and 73 to conclude the event at +1. Chindavong is currently averaging a team-best 13.7 pars per round.
Anna Shultse
After beginning the season with a sensational outing at the Lady Paladin Invitational where she finished third overall, Shultse earned a T50 finish at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. The sophomore will aim to return to top form this week at the Golf Iconic Classic. She currently leads the team this season with 17 birdies.
Raesa Sheikh
Sheikh finished tied for 65th at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at +12. The junior will look to have a breakout performance this week and help lead the Pack to a team title.
