An experience through the 7 deadly sins in songs - exposing unsaid feelings anchored to each sin. A 9track album with genre-bending music in different moods of hip-hop, R&B, gospel, etc. True to FELIP’s versatility, he challenges himself through this diverse sonic experience beginning with ‘foes’ and ending with ‘ache’ - a seemingly dark to light journey leaving you with an ambivalent but hopeful feeling of melancholy in the end. One must acknowledge that people make mistakes to accept these feelings. The sins of envy, wrath, greed, pride, gluttony, lust, and sloth are part of human nature. It is only when we accept these mistakes that we can understand and be truly at peace and confident within one’s self. As for the album, ‘7sins’ is suggested to be experienced shuffled as there is no true sequence or hierarchy of each sin ~ likewise changing the experience every single time.
FELIP's latest pop rock track, Fake Faces, sings about teenage rebellion. With guitar riffs and addictive hooks that lighten up the whole song, one wouldn't notice at first listen that the song dives deep into one’s dark struggles dealing with life's challenges. This banger is a prelude to FELIP's dark COM•PLEX era, which is followed by a redemption song, Kanako; the triad of FELIP's story.
Kanako, bisaya for mine, is the 2023 year-ender track from FELIP; an ode to everyone who has supported him this COM•PLEX year. FELIP explores his unique sound once more with this alternative rock track with heavy drums and striking guitars, reminiscent of old nostalgic band hits of the 90s.
In celebration of 30 years of Warner Music in the Philippines, FELIP covers 'Moving Closer', originally written by Anthony Libre and performed by Never the Strangers.
As the name suggests, FELIP’s debut EP is a play on the many meanings of the word ‘complex’. Often used to describe something difficult to understand, a complex may also mean a facet of a person’s unconscious, influenced by their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. The songs aim inward - for listeners to be one with their thoughts and embrace their complexities, knowing that it makes them one-of-a-kind.
