Join us for the 1st UTM annual global innovation gathering ‘Cities ahead of the curve: local solutions driving innovation’

The Urban Transitions Mission (UTM) is delighted to invite you to “Cities ahead of the curve: local solutions driving innovation”, the first UTM annual global innovation gathering.

This one-day event will take place on 10 October 2023, in Riyadh, with the partnership and kind support of the Ministry of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the framework of the UNFCCC Middle East and North Africa Climate Week (MENACW). It aims to inspire the UTM community to implement innovative approaches in technology, resilience, governance, finance and society in an integrated, accessible and holistic manner. It offers an opportunity for UTM cities to come together, network and meet with a community already committed to a net-zero global transition, and galvanize cooperation with national level, the climate finance sector, global practitioners and private sector representatives.

The event will focus on the overarching theme of futureproofing urban infrastructures, exploring the nexus between transport and mobility, energy, cooling, and the built environment, while also linking to challenges related to access to water, energy and the deployment of both digital and Nature-based Solutions. This event will help advance the implementation of a number of pilot actions, carefully selected with and by UTM cities, to respond to their needs and to further advance their journey to net-zero, through scalable and replicable solutions.

The event will also feature the first call for collaboration with universities and research institutions to partner with UTM Cities worldwide, and it acts as a first stepping stone on the way to the next edition of the Innovate4Cities conference taking place in 2024 – offering insights, supporting the identification of Research & Innovation gaps and potential solutions, yet to explore.
