The Republic of Korea (ROK) has set up a research center for overseeing the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the defense sector and introduce advanced technologies to the military, Yonhap News Agency reported on Monday.
The center comprises 110 people, including private researchers and military personnel, who will focus on developing technologies related to AI-based manned-unmanned teaming systems and battlefield situational awareness as well as applying AI technologies in the civilian sector to the military, the report added, citing the ROK's defense ministry.
