The Primate celebrated a Divine Liturgy in the Kyiv Caves Lavra on the 6th Sunday after Pentecost

On 16 July 2023, the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine led a Divine Liturgy in the Holy Dormition Kyiv Caves Lavra, the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church informs.

Chancellor of the UOC Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Archbishop Spyridon of Dobropillia, Archbishop Paisiy of Kostiantynivka, Bishop Lavr of Irpin, Bishop Mark of Borodianka, the clergy of the monastery and guests in holy order concelebrated with the Primate in the church of Venerable Agapitos of the Kyiv Caves.

After the reading out of the Holy Gospel, His Beatitude addressed the flock with a word of sermon. The Archpastor explained to the faithful the Gospel story of the Lord’s healing a paralytic and explained why repentance and the healing from diseases were connected with each other.

At the Divine Liturgy, prayers were offered up for peace on the Ukrainian land; for the deliverance of the enemy; prayers were also offered up that the Lord would have mercy on our people and save the desperate and those who had lost their homes, as well as for God’s blessing to people of good will helping those who are in need. The Primate asked God for His mercy to the Ukrainian people, asked the Lord to make the state authorities wiser, strengthen warriors with courage, free prisoners of war, heal the sick and give shelter to those who have been deprived of their homes.

After the dismissal, His Beatitude greeted the faithful on the occasion of the feast, invoked the Lord’s blessing upon the flock and wished peace to our land.

The day before, the Primate led an All-Night Vigil in this church.
