WISDOM FOR SALE

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.

Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

Proverbs 3:5, 7

Good morning, dear reader. Thank you for opening the link that brought you to this page.

Today, we're going to talk about Bible verses you have seen above. It says something about not relying on one's understanding, trusting the Lord wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord, and turning away from evil.

Many times, I used to be defensive and argue silently with such verses because I wondered why God would give us a brain(and conscience) and then prohibit us from using it to generate ideas, make decisions(i.e relying on it)

I always backed up my argument with another verse which says,” My people perish due to the lack of knowledge"

Then it hit me one time and I was like, what is it the true knowledge, the true wisdom, and the true understanding? What did the Lord mean when He said those words in Proverbs 3?

My dear reader, if there's something deceitful ever, it's the human heart! Trust the heart (or the brain) to deceive you with what it feels that it is right only for you to discover later that your thoughts were prompted by the rise and fall of your hormones! By your emotions such as anger, lust, or even fear. The thing is, what you feel is right in your sight is not always right for so many reasons! Either the Devil is playing his tricks on you or your hormones are playing tricks on you. That is why your understanding - the Holy Spirit= destruction. Your mere understanding simply leads you astray.

What is it then true wisdom and understanding that we should rely on? The Bible smoothly put it together in Job 28:28 “And he said to man ' Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.'"

You lack understanding if you don't turn away from evil, you lack true wisdom if you don't fear the Lord. Easy peasy!

You might forget all I just said above but keep this in mind: Trust the Lord, fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

Thank you for reading until now. Keep reading your Bible and praying constantly. Until we meet again here, may the Lord keep you.
