Why do Non Profits need CRM? What will they sell?

Non Profits don’t need Customer Relationship Management !!

They will need Constituent Relationship Management.

What is Constituent?

Constituents are people who benefit from the services provided by a Non Profit. Certain individuals may be both beneficiaries of services and supporters. To make it simple donors are also included as Constituent while designing a CRM (Constituent Relationship Management).

Being Customer Relation Management Consultant and also having experience working for a Non-Profit Trust, it became easy for me to relate business houses with Non-Profits and take a Pride to be one of the few Certified Salesforce Non-Profit Consultants let me share a few things.

Mission over Profits.

Stakeholders over Shareholders.

Donation over Sales.

Constituents over Customers.

Volunteers over Employees.

Impact Reports over Earnings.

Mission

Primary mission to run a Non-Profit is Constituent Service. The only objective with which a Non-Profit Leader works with is to serve the community.

Volunteers

A Non-Profit works with a support of Volunteers and Volunteers need a lot of motivation to deliver and make the world better. Volunteering always becomes a second priority

Funds

Non profits depend on various kinds of donations and funds. Be it individual donors and families. Colleges, a Group of People etc. Some times these donations can be one time and some times they are recurring. It is difficult to manage hundreds of Donors and details about what they have donated and create a specific engagement plan.

Impact Reports

It becomes important for a Non-Profit to show what impact the organization has made over years. Generate Reports like 100 Trees planted, 150 Kids going to school from our funds, 150 Braille books published, 1000 food packets provided, 20 patients treated etc. This reports should have the required details in easily readable formats.

Board Members / Trustees

Many a times, the Board Members or Trustees have to work extended hours to generate these reports or pay funds to get these reports done.

Solution

Salesforce as part of their 1% pledge has decided to Give 1% of Product, 1% of Equity and 1% of Time and advocate the idea of Giving Back.

Over the years people involved in Salesforce Ecosystem have been celebrating the Joy of Giving Back to the society.

Salesforce also offers Free licenses to registered Non-Profits in some counties and those engaged in specific areas of work.

These Non-Profit Success pack of Salesforce uses a Household Account types binding the entire family members in a single account, allowing individual members to affiliate with organizations giving the power to maintain both Hard / Soft Credits. The NPSP allows to maintain on-going donations, grants, pledge funds and much more.

The NPSP also makes Volunteering easy and fun by posting the Jobs available, managing shifts for the volunteering opportunities and also giving necessary credit hours to individuals.

If you think you run a Non Profit and would like to know more on how to build Constituent Management System please feel free to talk to me and I will be glad to give you a demo of how NPSP works and can help you build your Constituent Management System (CRM) and enable you to focus on your Mission and Constituents by creating a better Impact to this Society and having happy volunteers working with you.
