INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

Competitive selection of international short films, awarded with the Saint Lucía in the Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental and Videoclip categories.
1000 USD will be distributed among the winners of this competition.


Opening submissions: April 9, 2024
Earlybird deadline: June 7, 2024 10 USD
Final deadline: August 6, 2024 20 USD
Notification of results: October 25, 2024


Preview format:
-Uploaded file (1 stamp)

Requirements:
1) Films completed after: January 1st, 2023
2) Maximum duration: 30 minutes
3) Country of production: All countries (except Colombia)
4) Screening format: Apple ProRes 4444, Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), Apple ProRes 422, DCP (preferred)
5) Accepted genres: Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental, Videoclip

Other criteria:
6) Colombian Premiere: Submitted films must not have been screened in Colombia at public events and must keep their premiere status for the festival.
7) Subtitles: If the dialogues are not in English or Spanish, the preview copy must have subtitles in one of those languages.


- All the submitted films are susceptible to be selected in the Collections Competition (having a chance to win the BOGOSHORTS Audience Award) and the Connection Competition for Ibero-American films (having a chance to win the Connection Special Award). They can also be considered to be part of other non competitive - informative sections.
- All Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Experimental short films produced in Ibero-American countries (excluding Portugal), by filmmakers from Ibero-American countries or in co-production with these countries, submitted to the different Official Competitions of the 22° Bogotá Short Film Festival - BOGOSHORTS, that fully comply with the Regulations of the call for entries, will be included in the BFM Videolibrary 2024 (see number 6 of the Regulations for more information).





NATIONAL COMPETITION

Competitive selection of Colombian short films, awarded with the Saint Lucía in the Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental and Videoclip categories, and other artistic and technical categories.
* The winners of the Santa Lucía Award for Best Fiction, Best Documentary and Best Animation of the National Competition may be eligible for consideration for the Oscars® / Academy Awards®, in the corresponding season.
* 1000 USD will be distributed among the winners of the Best Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental and Videoclip categories.

F3 - FAN FREAK FANTASTIC

Competitive selection of horror, sci-fi, fantasy or related genre films, awarded with the Saint Lucía for Best F3 Short Film.

Requirements:
1) Films completed after: January 1st, 2023
2) Maximum duration: 30 minutes
3) Country of production: All countries (excluding Colombia)
4) Screening format: DCP (preferred), Apple ProRes 4444, Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), Apple ProRes 422
5) Accepted genres: Horror, sci-fi, fantasy, or related genre films (black comedy, crime, magic realism, action, suspense, superhero films, etc.)

Other criteria:
6) Subtitles: If the dialogues are not in English or Spanish, the preview copy must have subtitles in one of those languages.
7) Colombian Premiere: Submitted films must not have been screened in Colombia at public events and must keep their premiere status for the festival.

VR COMPETITION (VIRTUAL REALITY)

Competitive selection of VR - Virtual Reality productions. Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental short films and Videoclips produced in 360°, in 2D or 3D. Awarded with the Saint Lucía for Best VR Short Film.

Final deadline: August 6, 2024 Free
Notification of results: October 25, 2024

Requirements:
1) Films completed after: January 1st, 2023
2) Maximum duration: 30 minutes

4) Screening format: Digital file. The details of the final screening copies of the films elected in the VR Competition will be informed with the selection.
5) Accepted genres: Fiction, Documentary, Animation, Experimental, Videoclip

WEB SERIES EPISODES - BFM VIDEOLIBRARY (NON-COMPETITIVE SECTION)

NON-COMPETITIVE SECTION.
Exclusive submission for web series episodes of Ibero-American production, that will be part of the Videolibrary of the BFM - BOGOSHORTS Film Market. More information in the Regulations (number 6).


Opening submissions: April 9, 2024
Final deadline: August 6, 2024 Free
Notification of results: October 25, 2024

Requirements:
1) Films completed after: January 1st, 2023
2) Maximum duration: 30 minutes
3) Country of production: Produced in Ibero-American countries (excluding Portugal), by filmmakers from Ibero-American countries or in co-production with these countries will be considered: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela.
4) Screening format: Digital file: Codec: H264 - File extension: .MP4 - Resolution: Full HD (1920x1080) or superior - Audio: PCM or AC3 / Mono, Stereo or 5.1 (48000 Mhz 16 or 24 bit)
5) Accepted genres: Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Experimental

Other criteria:
6) Mandatory subtitles: Works spoken in Spanish must have English subtitles; those spoken in English must have Spanish subtitles; and short films not spoken in Spanish or English, must be subtitled in both languages.
