Women’s Soccer Hosts College of Charleston on Sunday

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will look to lick their wounds from Thursday night's defeat as the team readies themselves to host the College of Charleston Cougars at the CCU Soccer Stadium on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET.

Chant Talk

  • This is the third contest of a four-match home stand that will conclude against North Dakota State on Thursday, Aug. 31.
  • The Chants will look to add to their 1-0 record when playing under the lights at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
  • Sophomore Maggie Mace has been a fundamental player for the Chants competing in the full 90 minutes in each of the matches that have been played on the season to date.
  • Julia Ziegenfuss has been able to pull the trigger with a team-leading three shots on the season, one of which hit the target.

Last Time Out

  • The Chants fell short to the Charlotte 49ers on Thursday afternoon at the CCU Soccer Stadium suffering a 3-0 defeat.
  • The 49ers pulled away quickly netting all three goals during the first period of the match, each coming from a different player.
  • Julia Ziegenfuss was the only Chant to take a single shot during the matchup, but it wasn't enough to challenge the Charlotte keeper.
  • Sophomore Vivienne Carr suffered her first loss of the season but matched her season-best of six saves during the contest.

History Against

  • Coastal has a 5-4-2 all-time series record versus CofC.
  • This will be the 13th contest between the Chanticleers and the Cougars with their first encounter coming back in 2001.
  • The Chants are currently sitting on a one-match losing streak after taking a 3-0 loss on their turf in Aug. 2022. Charleston outshot CCU 28-6 in the match with returners Taylor Tolson and Ziegenfuss taking one and two shots, respectively.
  • The Cougars lead the Chants 4-2 on shutouts and 15-13 in goals scored over the course of their 13 matchups.
