OPEN FROM: 12.07.2023 – 02.08.2023 12PM

The Police and Crime Commissioner for South Wales is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual to join his team to support him in holding the force to account in their provision of an effective and efficient police service and to help promote and deliver his priorities across the partnership landscape of South Wales.

The ideal candidate will have experience of investigating and responding formally to a range of correspondence, including complaints, and will be able to provide a high quality, customer focussed service to members of the public contacting the Police and Crime Commissioner.

This is a key role and will require someone who is able to work alongside fellow members of the Quality, Standards and Compliance team to support the Commissioner in carrying out statutory functions with particular emphasis on police complaints and disciplinary systems following changes in legislation introduced by the Policing and Crime Act 2017. An understanding or knowledge of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s statutory remit relating to police complaints and disciplinary systems is desirable but not essential.

The ideal candidate will possess strong investigative, analytical and negotiation skills; a willingness to question existing processes and make recommendations for improvement; an eye for detail and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong competence in managing and coordinating their workload and prioritising accordingly. Essential skills are required in planning and organisation, a range of administration functions and customer service, as is the ability to work effectively and flexibly within a small team.

For full details of the skills, experience and qualities required please refer to the role profile.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post.
