Friends Football Coaches Show to air on ESPN Radio this season

WICHITA, Kan. – The Friends University Athletic Department has partnered with ESPN Radio Wichita to air the weekly Football Coaches Shows on 92.3 FM this season, VP of Athletics & Strategic Expansion Dr. Rob Ramseyer has announced.

"We are excited to be on ESPN Radio with Pat Strathman," said Dr. Ramseyer.  "It will be great for our football team to share with a larger audience what is going on in the program and how the season is going.  We have been successful in prioritizing local recruits and this will serve us well in shining a bright light throughout the area with all the exciting things happening on campus.  It is also pleasing for us to be recording the show weekly at Walk On's Sports Bistreaux."

The first date is tentatively set for Aug. 22, with the show being pre-recorded and sent to ESPN Wichita to air during the week. Each show will take place on a weeknight from 6-6:30 pm.

"We're always looking for unique ways to build connections with the local community, and there's no better way to do that than with Pat Strathman and ESPN Wichita," said Levi Convirs, Friends University Sports Information Director. "Pat is a great ambassador for our University and has a passion to cover local sports, and I know our fans will enjoy this new avenue to tune in weekly to our Coach's Show."

In addition to the opportunity to showcase student-athletes and coaches on a weekly, 30-minute program, a member of the Friends University athletics staff will appear monthly on the popular weekday show "The Pulse" with Pat Strathman.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to put a spotlight on Friends University football, the only college football in the city of Wichita," said Strathman, Sports Director/On-Air Host at ESPN Wichita. "As a locally owned and operated radio station, ESPN Wichita understands the value of local sports in this community. We can't wait to add this program to our nine hours of local sports talk on Wichita's only 100,000-watt powerhouse signal."

The Football Falcons will officially kick-off head coach Terry Harrison's second season at the helm on Aug. 26 against the University of Saint Mary. Game time is 6 pm at the friendly confines of Adair-Austin Stadium.

"I look forward to our partnership with ESPN Radio in Wichita," said Harrison.  "It will help us promote the awesome young men we have in our program.  Any opportunity to share about Falcon Football with the greater Wichita community will enhance the experience our players have here at Friends University."
