Om's Learning Journey

A graduated student from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay with B.Tech in Chemical Engineering (honours)

About Me

Research is formalised curiosity. It is poking and prying with a purpose.

Zora Hurston

A lifelong learner with a passion for exploring the boundaries of knowledge, I chose research as the ideal avenue to satiate my intellectual curiosity. Graduating from IIT Bombay in April 2024, I honed my skills under the guidance of esteemed faculty, engaging in a diverse range of projects that have significantly shaped my academic and personal growth.

My research journey has encompassed a broad spectrum of computational methods, including molecular dynamics, CFD, computational thermodynamics, and granular simulations. Proficient in a variety of software tools commonly employed in chemical engineering, I possess the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.

With a newfound interest in catalysis, biotechnology, and scale-up strategies, I am eager to delve deeper into these domains during my upcoming master's program at TUM, Germany.

Go through my CV (Last updated in August 2024) to have a peep into my recent endeavours.

 Major Projects

Coating FLow on a Rotating Disc

Guide: Professor Guruswamy

In this project, we were given a research paper to study and give a review on.

ODE-BVP

Guide: Professor Sarika

In this project, we were given a thereotical problem statement related to the theory taught in class. The problem statement can be found in the report.

Thermo Acoustic Cooling of Thermal Hotspots

Guide: Prof Sunthar & Prof Venkat

This was an open-ended project where we had to take up a practical problem related to heat transfer and find an innovative solution for the same. Our group has solved the problem of thermal hotspots by cooling using sound waves.

Flow Past Nine Cylinders in Square Configuration

Guide: Professor Janani

This was a case study done using OpenFOAM where some of the results were validated against a research paper while some new cases were simulated and observations were reported.

Neuroclone

Institote Summer Technical Project

In this project, our team used Deep learning concepts to make a "Thought controlled human hand"

Predicting IPL Scores

Guide: Prof Sethi, Prof Hanawal, Prof Sunita & Prof Sudarshan

In this project, we have applied data science techniques to predict IPL scores

Creating Own Solver in OpenFOAM

Self Project

This was an independent project from an online course on OpenFOAM.
