UTR Rating Top 10 Men's Tennis Players: Sinner, Djokovic, Alcaraz [Updated April 2024]

The Top 10 men's tennis players by UTR Rating: Who are they, and how much does the Top 10 list change from year-to-year and month-to-month?

UTR Sports dives into who are the Top 10 men's tennis players by UTR Rating, a list that is topped by Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Carlos Alcaraz. But the rest may surprise you.

Top 10 Men’s Tennis Players by UTR Rating

1. Jannik Sinner (UTR Rating 16.32)

Jannik Sinner with the 2024 Australian Open trophy.

The Italian fell in the Monte-Carlo semifinals to eventual champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, but Sinner still has the highest UTR Rating of any player, male or female.

His climb to the top after his maiden Grand Slam title at the 2024 Australian Open in January marked the first time Sinner has held the top spot in the UTR rankings and the first time it’s been held by someone not named Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz in years.

Sinner’s still not at the pinnacle of the ATP rankings (he’s close on Novak Djokovic's tail at No. 2), but there are a lot of tournaments left in 2024 for him to work towards that goal.

2. Novak Djokovic (UTR Rating 16.39)

Novak Djokovic celebrates a big point at 2023 US Open while improving his UTR Rating

Djokovic may not be having the best year of his career, as he's without a title and it's already April.

Since Djokovic won his first ATP singles title in 2006, he's had to wait this long in the calendar year to win a title only twice – 2018, when he celebrated his first title at Wimbledon in July; and in 2022, when his first title came in May in Rome.

Is this the beginning of the end for the 36-year-old? We're not betting on it. Djokovic still has a UTR Rating of 16.21 and you could say he's rounding into form after reaching the Monte-Carlo semifinals.

3. Carlos Alcaraz (UTR Rating 16.09)

Alcaraz is undoubtedly one of the faces of the next generation, those who will truly reign the sport after Djokovic retires. And after an up-and-down finish to 2023 and start to 2024, he returned to a Sunday smile by repeating as champion at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells in March.

Alcaraz missed Monte-Carlo because of a right forearm injury but he's dazzled the tour when healthy. Expect him to be healthy and happy come the French Open next month.

4. Daniil Medvedev (UTR Rating 15.96)

Daniil Medvedev celebrates winning a big point and improving his UTR Rating

Medvedev had a blistering start to the 2024 season. He reached the Australian Open final (l. to Sinner), semifinals in Dubai, final in Indian Wells, and the semifinals in Miami.

No surprise there, as hard courts have long been Medvedev's favorite surface. Eighteen of his 20 titles have come on hard courts, and he has won 75% of the tour-level matches he's played on hard court.

Clay courts are entirely separate matter. Medvedev has won exactly one title on the red dirt (Rome 2023), and he's won a little more than 50% of his tour-level matches on clay courts.

But he's shown streaks of greatness before, even on clay: Last year, Medvedev beat Denmark's Holger Rune to win the Masters 1000 title in Rome.

5. Rafael Nadal (UTR Rating 15.90)

Rafael Nadal prepares to serve during a match while wearing a purple Nike shirt and trying to improve his UTR Rating

Nadal has struggled to string together matches the past two seasons because of injuries. He went 1-3 in 2023 before ending his season in January.

This year, deemed a farewell season of sorts, he played three matches in Australia but hasn't been healthy enough to return since the start of the year.

Nadal is planning to compete at one of his favorite events in Barcelona this week.

“It’s been a difficult couple of years, I had a major hip operation that I took one year to recover from. When that happens, it’s difficult. Things happen to your body and they’ve prevented me from following my schedule as I would’ve liked," Nadal said, according to the ATP.

"As much as it pains me to miss certain events, it is what it is. I have to weigh up all the good things that have happened to me throughout my life. At this point of my career, unfortunately or not, I’m in a different situation.”

6. Andrey Rublev (UTR Rating 15.85)

Rublev is oh-so-close to cracking the highest echelon of players in the men’s game, as his UTR Rating of 15.85 shows.

The 26-year-old Russian has hit a rough patch since reaching the Dubai semifinals. Rublev is just 1-3 since that loss, falling in his openers in Indian Wells and Miami.

But clay, unlike his compatriot Medvedev, is his second favorite surface. Rublev's biggest title to date, the 2023 Monte-Carlo title, came on clay, as have five of his 15 overall titles.

7. Alexander Zverev (UTR Rating 15.85)

Alexander Zverev competes at the 2022 French Open against Rafael Nadal in a battle of two players with high UTR Ratings

Zverev suffered a tough-to-see ankle injury in 2022 amidst an epic-to-be versus Rafael Nadal in the French Open semifinals. Less than two eyars later, Zverev appears to be back into top form.

The German knocked out Alcaraz en route to the 2024 Australian Open semifinals, and he made the same stage in Miami. In the ATP Rankings, Zverev has climbed back into the Top 5.

8. Alex de Minaur (UTR Rating 15.82)

Alex de Minaur having a great 2024 and boosting his UTR Rating

De Minaur is playing some of the best tennis of his life in 2024. The Aussie is already 4-4 against Top 10 players, with three of those wins coming at the United Cup to start the year.

For his career, he's won less than 30% of his matches against Top 10 players.

9. Stefanos Tsitsipas (UTR Rating 15.81)

Tsitsipas joined elite company last week when he won his third Monte-Carlo title in The Principality. Only four other men have won three Monte-Carlo titles.

Now can the 26-year-old Greek return to the French Open final, as he did in 2021 when he pushed Djokovic to five sets?

10. Casper Ruud (UTR Rating 15.77)

Casper Ruud improves his UTR Rating while competing on clay

Ruud, like Tsitsipas, had not been enjoying the best of 2024 campaigns before arriving at Monte-Carlo. But that changed for both of them as Ruud gained his first win against a World No. 1 when he beat Novak Djokovic to reach the Masters 1000 final.
