Top Ten Tuesday – Books on my Fall TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Today’s topic is Books on My Fall 2023 To-Read List.

I have been trying to be better about reading books (well technically I listen to them) and was doing really well for a bit at the beginning of the year. I had joined a book club that I was co-running with two other girls, and I was reading on my own as well. And then…”BAM!” Life.

So all excuses aside, cause that is what they are really, I have a list of books I would like to try to get read over the next two months and they are as follows:

The Wife Upstairs by Freida McFadden – I most recently read The Housemaid by McFadden and really enjoyed the read. I know there is a second book to that one, The Housemaid’s Secret but I am intrigued more by The Wife Upstairs.

The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall – I have heard great things about this book from others, and seen it on a few TTT lists. I honestly thought from the name it would be some kind of telling of The Little Mermaid but further reading the synopsis and reviews, I can see that it is not.

Neon Gods by Katee Robert – The first book in the Dark Olympus Series is a twist on the tale of Persephone and Hades. I enjoy Greek Mythology and like to read books that have a twist on the tales. Most recently I read Persephone’s Choice by Yihan Sim which was also a twist on the tale. I am excited to read this series.

A Bone To Pick by Charlaine Harris – Most recently I read Real Murders which is book #1 in the Aurora Teagarden Series. I really enjoyed Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse Series and dove into this one as well. While the first book was a little slow to me, I enjoyed the read and am looking forward to the next in the series.

Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer – The first in the Market of Monsters Series, Not Even Bones introduces us to Nita and the black market that sells body parts of supernatural beings. I may save this one for closer to Halloween.

The above books are audio books I have copies of. The next set of books are eBooks I have copies of, so I will actually have to take the time to read them, which means they are less likely to get read as I have to fit time in to read and not just listen while doing other things. I am however, flying in about two weeks and could schedule that read time in then, when I am stuck in one place for over 2 hours.

The Elementals – Sansul by Natasha Jardim – I actually got this as a free book I am supposed to read and do a truthful review on and I have not gotten to it yet. So it is on my list for that reason. It is also very spooky-ish and Halloweenish.

Teach Us To Pray by Corey Russell, Jon Tyson – I don’t just read non-fiction books. I often read self help, encouragement, and books on faith.

7 Attitudes of the Helping Heart by John Christopher Frame – another faith book, I am hoping will help better center my posture and realign things in my life.

The Perfect Plan by Carina Taylor – I wanted something quirky and fun, and this book is just that. All of the reviews describe the book as being hilarious and witty. I am looking forward to this read. This one may be the plane read I mentioned earlier.

Just Breathe by Heather Allen – this one has been on a few lists a few times, it made the list about water. I have wanted to read this one for a while but keep pushing it back.

So that is my hope over the next few months, to get all or as many of those as I can read.

  1. I have heard so much about Neon Gods, I love anything mythology related, but this one is hit or miss for most people, curious what you think of it.

  2. This looks like you’ve got some fantastic reads ahead of you! I hope you enjoy them when you get to them, and I’ve got The Mermaid, The Witch, and The Sea on my TBR too!
