- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2024As someone who has played the piano for most of my life, I was interested in seeing if "Learn Piano for Adult Beginners" might appeal to my 12-year-old granddaughter, who enjoys spending time at her dad's keyboard. The book covers the basics, and I find nothing incorrect in its material. I find it to be a reliable guide for understanding the fundamentals of reading music and keyboard playing.
However, I did feel that a bit more "fun" would make the learning process more engaging for students of all ages. Perhaps a few piano jokes could be thrown in to elicit a smile along what way? The songs were a good mix of variety, and it was creative, however. While the book is not an end-all on this subject, and in fairness, was never meant to be, it is a good start and has a place for someone with a desire and the time to play without knowing where to begin.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2024This set of books is ideally suited to the adult who is determined to learn to play the piano. It is a very well constructed plan for the adult beginner. It is designed to cover every aspect of what you need to know in order to learn to play. I thoroughly enjoyed the section about music theory, and it really does a great job in helping you to understand the basics of reading music and translating the notes in front of you to the keyboard. It includes a lot of songs that we've all known for many years, and that makes it much easier to grasp these fundamentals. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in learning to play, even if all you have is a cheap electronic keyboard (like me).

5.0 out of 5 stars Video and Audio support
This three-part guide takes the intimidation out of learning and makes the entire experience approachable, fun, and—most importantly—rewarding.
The step-by-step plan, laid out in Book 1, is perfect for those who want to get their feet (or rather, fingers) wet without feeling overwhelmed. Within just 30 days, you can master the essentials, from music theory and reading sheet music to learning how to position your hands properly for a great start. The tone is encouraging, and the exercises are practical, helping you feel accomplished at every stage.
By Book 2, you’re already playing real, beautiful pieces with just your right hand. And the joy of recognizing familiar tunes like "Ode to Joy" and "Swan Lake" makes every practice session something to look forward to. The video and audio support seal the deal here, turning what could have been a solitary practice into an interactive journey.
By the time you reach Book 3, you're playing with both hands, tackling classics like "Clair de Lune" and "Amazing Grace." There’s a sense of achievement that grows as you move through the lessons, and each new challenge feels within reach thanks to the comprehensive approach of this guide.
The combination of theory, hands-on practice, and multimedia support makes it ideal for self-study.

5.0 out of 5 stars The go to book for beginners
I have been indecisive in beginning the piano. I brought a keyboard to start off with. I brought this book, because I can't afford a tutor yet, and want to get intermediate level, before I actually invest in this hobby. This book was a happy compromise. Its easy for me to understand and not overly complicated. I recommend this book for anyone, in a similar situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive guide
I tried learning to play the piano in the past but failed. I'm giving it another try with the help of this book. The instructions are clear, with helpful pictures. The accompanying videos and audio files are also very useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and easy to follow guide!
I've always wanted to play the piano, and when I was younger, I started learning songs on a keyboard by watching videos, but I didn’t have any real knowledge of how to play, so I eventually abandoned it. Recently, I decided to take advantage of the piano I now have access to, and this book has been the perfect guide. It’s quite extensive and really goes in-depth, even covering things like proper sitting position, which I never realized was so important! The pictures are super helpful for visualizing the techniques, and it was great to revisit reading sheet music, especially since I’d forgotten so much over the years. Honestly, this book made me realize I’d never truly understood sheet music fully before. It broke down every important detail! It’s simple to follow and made learning feel exciting and rewarding, almost like I had a personal teacher guiding me step-by-step. The exercises helped me test my knowledge too so I could go over anything I didn’t understand. I’ve already learned a few songs, though I’m still working on mastering them(my finger technique is still a bit wonky but I believe it's getting better), and the daily practice plan was a fantastic touch, it helped me stay organized and motivated. Overall, this has been such a great experience, and I can’t wait to keep playing and improving!
