Onn Hafiz as Johor Umno chief will boost the party, says Ahmad Maslan

PONTIAN: Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi's appointment as the state Umno chief will help to improve the party, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

The Umno supreme council member and Pontian MP said Johor Umno now had a similar arrangement as three other states helmed by the party.

"We now have four states where the Mentri Besar is also the state Umno chief – Pahang, Perak, Melaka and now Johor is joining the list.

"We want to standardise it so that the head of a state government is also given the chance to be the party's state chief," he said Friday (Dec 8), when asked to comment on Onn Hafiz's appointment.

Speaking at a press conference after visiting the planned site for the Pontian Community College here in Benut, Ahmad said he had no problem working under Onn Hafiz as deputy state Umno chief.
