Having grown up in a religious family, I had all kinds of assumptions about what it means to know God, but as adulthood approached those inherited notions no longer made sense. If God was real, knowing Him ought to be absorbing and wonderful, but I was bored and running on empty. I determined in my heart to shake off the dry and dusty associations of my church upbringing and to seek God for real. These days, my spiritual life is off-the-scale wonderful – a paradise of love, joy, peace, laughter and cathartic tears – but it took long years to get there. This book is about that journey – mistakes made, lessons learned, and amazing moments of breakthrough, victory and change. It is about how you can have the same without having to endure some of the struggles I went through in ignorance. I hope you will discover, as I have done, that however much you want to experience intimacy with God, His desire is much the greater.
