So my girlfriend was on a girls' trip in Europe, and she wanted me to meet up with her in Paris. Being the good boyfriend that I am, and looking to take things to the next level, I decided to go on this weekend adventure.
I didn't think that I was going to find suitable itineraries looking at commercial flights. But alas, Norse was here to save the day.
I found a direct flight from LA to Paris and back, allowing me to be in the city of love for a whopping 22 hours. I booked the flights, and off I went.
The flight toward Paris was very nice. Granted, I flew premium, which allowed me to actually get some decent shuteye before landing in France. There was a decent meal which was served about half an hour after takeoff, and there was a snack that was served about an hour before landing. We actually landed in Paris an hour ahead of schedule, although the baggage carrousel was half an hour delayed in giving me my bag.
The flight back was a bit less comfy, as there were no seats left in premium when I booked the flight. The same type of food was available to me as was on the flight to Paris. But this time, it was a la carte, which was fine. Due to it being a daytime flight, I didn't plan on getting sleep on the journey home. The USB charging port at my seat was not working, but the stewardess went above and beyond to make sure my phone was charged before landing. I did order quite a bit of food and snacks on the flight, which were of decent quality. There was an ok selection of entertainment.
This airline made my weekend trip to Paris possible, and the journey was fine. I appreciate them, and I will definitely keep them in mind the next time I look to fly to Europe.Helpful 10Thanks 1Love this 11Oh no 0 - Gregg M.Los Angeles, CA0225Oct 17, 2024Updated review
What a disaster and most importantly, concerning ineptitude on part of Norse that makes me wonder if I'll ever fly them again.
They refuse to give you online check in, which means even though I'm traveling overseas with carry on luggage, I'll have to endure their absurdly understaffed, non-working machines, and get my boarding passes by standing in badly signed, very long queues at a terminal that has nothing to do with where the gates actually are.
So once standing in line forever to get a boarding pass the EVERY OTHER AIRLINE HAS THE SAVVY AND TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS TO GIVE EVERY PASSENGER AROUND THE WORLD APART FROM NORSE - you have to get a BUS to ANOTHER TERMINAL!!!
I will definitely rethink ever flying with this sloppily organised airline again.
If it's this sloppy and unskilled on the ground, I'd hate to think how they are in their up in the air procedures.
Think about booking these guys first. I am not quite sure I can trust being in the sky when on the ground is so crazy, unskilled, uncaring and stupid.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 21, 2024Previous reviewNORWAY?? NO WAY!!
Disorganised. Chaotic. Substandard in every way.
Dear Super Lousy Airline:
Where do I even begin with you, you embarrassing piece of passenger bashing crud?
How can I start describing your failings even before I set foot on your craft?
YOU could start by putting more than one person at the airport checking in over a hundred passengers.
You could show those customers which endless line they need to stand in because there are no signs.
You could be decent and understanding because it's YOU who suck ass, so not threaten the increasingly angry line of people that they'll sent to the back of the line if THEY hold anyone up - because no one would be held up if you weren't so understaffed and super shitty in the first place.
You could simply try not to suck in every way and stop offering third world service for top dollar prices.
This is my first experience and so far so rotten, Norse! I've paid for seats and bags at a higher rate than other airlines, but refuse to add to your gouging shitty service to also have to pay for an expensive crummy meal on a transatlantic flight - and the adding up of all of your expensive bits and pieces leaves this as one of the most expensive one way flights with zero frills I could have bought a ticket for.
Oh! And! After over an hour before being able to drop my bag - with a very unfriendly person doing it - (even dogs can smile, you pieces of human misery), you then have to walk to another terminal for security and then take a bus to yet another terminal after, only to be dropped off at a gate area with absolutely zero to do for the then three hours of pre flight waiting to come.
What an absolute turd of an airline you are and although you should be truly ashamed, mainly you should just simply go bankrupt, which is not something I would ever wish on anyone or any entity apart from those that simply should not waste the space or time or money of others you simply care nothing about.
Now if I don't fall out of the sky in what I imagine is an equally substandard manning of a perfectly lovely type of aircraft, I'll truly be amazed - but don't expect a great review by succeeding in the simple act of doing what every other airline in the planet does, in every way, better than you. - Paul H.FL, FL18110319Sep 17, 2024
Comfortable and fairly new aircraft, more space than over low cost carriers, fair fees for luggage and other extras, food (paid) could be better.
Most of the complaints are from people that did zero research into WHY the airfare is so inexpensive. But I've taken them twice now and found both flights to be great. My only complaint is the food is pretty terrible. Our pasta was microwaved (think instant ramen kind of cup) and came to us still crunchy and lukewarm.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nova A.Civic Center, New York, NY036Jan 9, 2025

From my personal experience, it really wasn't that bad.
If you read most of the reviews on Yelp and social media it comes from having to pay excess baggage weight fees, oversized check in luggage size and everything you have to pay once you're on your flight including water, snacks and meals. As long as you follow the rules prior, you'll know what to expect prior.
Our first leg of the flight was LAX to France while the second leg returning was London to LAX. We sat in their version of first class which was absolutely worth it. The seats were extremely spacious, reclined more than other airline seats, had a larger than usual entertainment screen and all food and beverages including alcohol included. We told the crew it was for our wedding and they stored my wedding dress in a special cabinet and even allowed our family to meet the pilot and spend time in the cockpit. Everything from checking in, the on time flights, the cabin crew, were great. I can't speak on economy but paying for extra luxury is always worth it.

I don't think I'll fly with Norse again. They are a low cost airline, but they charge you for every single thing that it ends up being just about the same price as other airlines. I flew from LAX to Oslo, Norway and it was about 10 hours long. Their seats are very compact and uncomfortable with literally no leg room. My knees were touching the seat in front of me and I'm not even a tall person. Now imagine being crammed into these seats for 10 hours (!!!).
We picked this airline simply because, at first glance, it seemed like the cheapest option. We didn't realize they charge you additionally for everything. First we had to pay extra to get the economy classic option, which includes a personal item and a carry-on. Glad we checked, otherwise they offer the economy basic option, which only includes a personal item that must go under your seat. Make sure you pack light for either of these options-- they measure your personal item and weigh your carry-on. When we got to the airport there were only two people checking everyone in, so be prepared to wait in line for a while and be sure to head to the airport at a reasonable time. I thought maybe this was an LAX thing, but it happened on our return flight, too.
I was hoping for two meals during our flight, but turns out they also charge you for food. Either pack lots of snacks or pay in advance unless you want to starve. Our economy classic option included one meal, but I wish I had purchased a second meal as it was a long flight. Make sure you check-in online before your flight and select your meal choice (regular, vegan, vegetarian, etc.). My friend had the economy classic and she forgot to do this and they skipped her! The meal was okay, nothing special. Also, be sure to pack a water bottle and refill it before your flight inside the airport, unless you want to purchase water on the plane. They don't offer complementary beverages like other airlines. As you can imagine, they do not offer complimentary headphones, blankets, etc. I guess the only good thing is that we took off and arrived on time.
Fly at your own risk.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael J.Midtown West, New York, NY010Dec 19, 2024
Charged my card through their website but never actually gave me any confirmation. No customer service number and an email address that goes unanswered. Truly disgusting and an absolute joke of an airline.
Would not book with these again if they were the last airline on earth given I ended up having to do a chargeback due to the fact that they couldn't find my booking to refund it. Ridiculous and if I didn't know they actually had airplanes I would call them a scam. Thankfully I booked using a credit card so I could do a chargeback.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Veronique M.Washington Heights, New York, NY010Jan 1, 2025
I booked a flight with Norse Atlantic which I have to cancel because my father died. There is no customer service worthy of the name. You cannot call anyone, many of their emails, even in the situation of a family death, are plain rude, and their company policy means that even in this kind of situation, you are not guaranteed even a minimum refund. They are clearly taking advantage of the fact that prices for transatlantic flights have skyrocketed, which means that many people are desperately trying to find affordable alternatives. Even so, after this, I can only say that, if at all possible, do not book with this airline. There is a good chance you will lose money and above all a lot of time and nerves.

I cannot believe how awful their customer service is. No direct number; a 3rd party call center who are rude.
We hung up about 15 times and tried to recall. Every single person was rude or completely unhelpful until the 16th guy who at least wasn't rude.

Now the flight.
The flight was quite pleasant. Staff were warm and friendly. Plane was half full. The food? Don't buy it. Bring your own as it's awful.
Honestly, staff and flight were 5 stars. Food was a 1. Customer service was minus 5.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 4
