Dear Cheer Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in the Columbus East cheer program! We are looking for dedicated, responsible athletes to make up our freshman, junior varsity, and varsity cheer squads.

We take pride in the cheer program at Columbus East and expect athletes to adhere to the rules not only when cheering but throughout the school. At CEHS, we follow the rules and expectations of every other IHSAA sport. Commitment is a huge piece of joining the cheer team. This is not a club or "social activity" this team is a full time sport. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Coach Hannah. Attendance is mandatory for the tryouts. Please speak with the coach if an extenuating circumstance prevents you from being present.

Tryouts are closed to family and friends. This is for the safety of all concerned. No one except for prospective cheerleaders, coaches and judges will be allowed in the gym during this time. Tryouts can be stressful, so it is important that all candidates get plenty of sleep, eat well, and stay hydrated.

The following information contains an overview of the requirements for our cheerleaders as well as details on the tryout, scoring, and selection process. Please read ALL the information thoroughly with your parent/guardian before deciding to make a commitment to our program. You will be expected to adhere to these requirements and need to be sure you are prepared to do so.

It is an honor and privilege to become a Columbus East Cheerleader, and your role in the squad should not be taken lightly. Your coaches hope that you embrace this role. Remember there are people watching everything you say and do. You are the FACE of Columbus East High School. Please consider the commitment and sacrifices that will be made to be part of this team of cheerleaders.
