RENEWPAC Summit Dakar 2023
Very intense days in Dakar at the RENEWPAC2023 Summit, with focus on how to foster sustainable development and growth in Africa.
During the exchange of views with my colleagues from the Renew Europe Group and our African partners, I participated in a panel on Youth Unemployment vs Youth Migration, where I highlighted that education, training and skills are essential to find jobs, prosperity and therefore stability.
60% of the Africa population is under age 25 and the majority do not have stable economic opportunities and up to 1 million Africans enter the labor market every month, but only 1 in 4 find a formal job, therefore then youth considers migration as a solution to find a better economic situation.
I also participated in a panel on EU-Africa Students Mobility, How can Education Cooperation
Benefit Growth. Sub-Saharan African countries can benefit from Erasmus+, but I often hear stories of talented young people from Africa who have been accepted to study in top programs in Europe, only to see their visa refused. This should not happen! Student mobility between EU-Africa is not merely an economic investment, it is an investment in the shared destiny of our continents.
I had the chance to meet the president of Senegal Macky Sall, the Prime Minister Amadou Ba and African Liberal Network's President Gilbert Noël Ouedraogo. Their efforts and positive influence are commendable, and they serves as an inspiration to others who aspire to make a difference in Africa and in the world.
We also had the chance to meet HE President of Senegal Macky Sall, awarded the Hans Van Baalen Medal of Liberalism.
