Cops looking for suspect in connection to catering service cheating case in Selangor

JEMPOL: Police are looking for a 40-year-old woman to assist in investigations into a cheating case involving catering services here.

Jempol police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said anyone who knew the whereabouts of Fauziah Abdul Hamid should contact Sjn Norhisham Zulkifli at 017 6219957 or the district police station at 06-458 222 ext 102.

He said the woman's last known address was 18, Jalan Pulau Lumut U10/76G Taman Alam Budiman, 40150, Shah Alam, Selangor.

On Dec 25, a family here claimed they were cheated of RM13,000 by a catering company offering a wedding package.

The company representatives had failed to show up on the wedding day, forcing the family to prepare a simple meal themselves for their guests.

The company representatives had also failed to return calls from the family members.

The family had ordered food for 1,000 guests but could only prepare a meal for some 400 people consisting of chicken curry, sambal belacan, fruits and salads.

They were also forced to look for tables, chairs and pots to prepare the dishes.

Some individuals helped out by sponsoring apam balik, popcorn, and pastries.

Supt Hoo said the case is being probed under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
