Thank you for your interest in BSA’s worldwide Sacred Texts event at 5:30 pm on May 2, 2024, the National Day of Prayer.
The form to register is below the description of the event. Cubs should register as part of a group or with family. Scouts should register individually or with a group.
Registrations will be taken until May 12, 2024 to make sure we include scouts who participated but forgot to register.
Scouting has organized a few larger
Councils around the world to read the entire sacred
texts of these four world religions – Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, and Protestant faiths
on May 2, 2024. In addition, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, Christian, Eastern Orthodox, Hindu, Sikh, and other Faiths will be reading their sacred
texts.
We are inviting every Scout, over
one million strong, to read their Sacred Texts on this important day.
We encourage all Cubs & Scouts to participate at 5:30 on May 2nd (local time) in one of three ways:
- Read Sacred Texts at home with your family.
- Ask your Faith leader to read at their faith location. Faith leaders may suggest the readings, promote, or broadcast this to the public.
- Ask a Scout friend to join you at your home or Faith location.
We are very pleased to have the Far East and the Transatlantic councils participate. That means Scouts will start reading at 5:30 pm in the Far East, seven hours later, Scouts read in Europe, we cross the Atlantic and six hours later, Scouts begin reading on the East Coast, then Midwest and finish in Hawaii. What a vision to have Sacred Texts being read starting in the Far East and sweeping west all around the world – all on the US National Day of Prayer.
Participating in this
event could help Scouts satisfy the Duty to God requirement necessary for
advancement. A commemorative patch will be available to purchase.
Please help us promote this event by posting on social media.
