Pioneers receive at-large bid to National Tournament

Northland receives one of four at-large bids into NJCAA D3 Women's Basketball Tournament

Three days after it lost in overtime to Minnesota West in the Region XIII-B Championship, the Northland women's basketball team learned its fate. During the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball selection show, team members learned that their season would continue with the Pioneers receiving one of four at-large bids into the this year's tournament. 

The 12-team field includes eight district champions and four at-large bids. The Pioneers are seeded fifth in the tournament and will open tournament play Wednesday, March 13 against number 12-seeded Nassau Community College. That game is set for 2 p.m. 

Four teams from the MCAC/Region XIII are qualified for this year's tournament. Region XIII-B champion Minnesota West is the number one overall seed. Region XIII-A runner-up and defending national champion Rochester is seeded second. Region XIII-A champion Anoka-Ramsey is seeded fourth.
