Story
Shelia is registered blind and suffers from Geographic Atrophy caused by Macular Degeneration. She is now part of an exciting new trial to help restore her vision using advanced microchip technology. The microchip is inserted into the retina and will receive infra-red signals from customised specs, that incorporate a camera. The images the camera sees will be then transferred to the chip and onto the optic nerve, giving Shelia the ability to see.
This technology will help to give Sheila a higher quality of life and a lot more independence, because without this pioneering research Sheila will eventually go blind. Pixium, working in conjunction with Moorfields Eye Hospital want to perform a cataracts procedure on her "better" eye, but won't contribute towards the financial obligations.
Therefore, what she needs are the funds to help her with the weekly travelling to London, the accommodation and living expenses whilst she is there. We are helping Sheila, because, quite frankly, we want to help. She is a genuine wonderful person and we just want to do all we can for her.
The donation raised will do directly to Shelia. This will allow her to pay for everything she needs whilst in London.

Hi Sheila, you may not remember me but we once rode the bus together from Swindon to Malmesbury. And you shared your story with me. I hope everything will go well on this trial. God bless you!
