    Customize Meal Plans with Enjoyment

My absolute musts are keeping it simple, realistic, and doable. For the love of all things meal planning, make things you love. :-D

My meal plans aren't boring or generic, but they are customized specifically for my clients. I don't tell you what to eat; instead, I will work with you to find your goal, e.g., more fruits and vegetables, more protein, or a balance. Have you tried anything before? Did it work? After that, we make sure you can commit to it; in fact, that's the first step. Next comes the fun part: planning meals. Together, we'll come up with a balanced and fun meal plan that you actually enjoy. If you're not a broccoli fan, the recipes won't include it. Remember, a plan that includes a balance of foods means you're more likely to stick to it and enjoy it.

    Prepare Plant-Based Meals for Convenience

An efficient way to create a sustainable meal plan that fits their lifestyle and weight goals is to have easy-to-prepare meals and snacks. Keeping extra servings of healthy meals in the freezer and refrigerator allows for quick access and spontaneity at a moment's notice. Ideally, these meals should consist of 80% or more plant-based foods, including colorful vegetables and leafy greens, some whole grains, beans, and healthy fats such as extra-virgin olive oil, and possibly organic animal protein like wild salmon or bison.

    Provide Tailored Nutritionist Support

Nutritionists assist clients in creating sustainable meal plans based on their individual needs, dietary preferences, lifestyle, and cultural background. Nutritionists work collaboratively with clients to make gradual and sustainable changes to their eating habits. They may provide guidance on meal prep, simple healthy recipes, and grocery shopping tips that are tailored to clients' lifestyles and preferences. Nutritionists often educate clients on portion control, mindful eating practices, and strategies for dining out to develop healthier relationships with food and help them stay on track with their goals. Nutritionists help empower clients by offering ongoing support and encouragement to achieve their dietary and wellness goals.

    Embrace Variety for Sustainable Eating

One invaluable tip for crafting sustainable meal plans tailored to individual lifestyles and weight goals is to prioritize variety and flexibility. Encourage clients to embrace diverse food options, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, to ensure they obtain essential nutrients while avoiding monotony. Advocate for a balanced approach, emphasizing portion control and mindful eating rather than rigid dietary restrictions. By incorporating flexibility, clients can enjoy occasional indulgences without derailing progress, fostering a positive relationship with food. Even empower clients to experiment with meal prepping and planning, enabling them to make nutritious choices even during busy periods.

    Healthify Favorite Meals and Snacks

Instead of eliminating their favorite meals and the snacks they find most convenient, look for healthier versions of them. For example, if your client loves having a sandwich for lunch, find a way to make it healthier and fit their macronutrient needs. Can they switch from white bread to multigrain? Can they use mustard instead of mayonnaise? Find a way to make it easy for them to adjust to this new, healthier lifestyle.

    Educate on Eco-Friendly Food Choices

First, I educate clients on the foods that have the greatest impact on the environment. Animal food products utilize more land and water and have a large carbon footprint. In contrast, plant-based foods have a minimal impact on the environment. Furthermore, many plant-based foods have adequate protein, such as beans, legumes, and peas, nuts, and whole grains, which can replace the protein found in animal-based products. I also encourage clients to look for 'upcycled' food products—high-quality foods created from food waste.
