Description

Isometric real-time tactics game that takes place on the Eastern front of WWII.

War Mongrels, or WM, is an isometric real-time tactics game that takes place on the eastern front of World War II. This part of the war has been receiving less attention in gaming, even though it ended or changed a considerable number of lives and brought forward many stories of courage, comradery, but also further proof of twisted societies and the darkest parts of the human character.

War Mongrels builds its foundations on these two opposing mental forces. First driven by propaganda, our heroes soon find their purpose in fighting back the expanding Nazi forces that entangled them in the international conflict in the first place. From boys to men in days, they open their eyes to the atrocities of war and find their purpose in the fight to prevent further meaningless killing.

AMBIGUOUS · HEROES
———————————

The heavily history-inspired storyline guides players through the journey of two Wehrmacht soldiers as they go from deserters to hefty guerilla fighters. Their team expands as they meet new characters who support the same cause. As the goal of every hero is to save others and hopefully survive, our heroes strive to prevent the deaths of innocent people instead of getting away from the war as originally intended.

And as each character has their own set of skills and advantages, players must learn to combine them effectively to outsmart the enemy during a variety of missions in a changing environment. Sneaking, distraction, silent kills, and using the environment are some of the main skills players will have to take to heart, but a stock of firearms will also be available and useful in completing mission objectives.

Just buy it

OK I saw this on the app store and the graphics looked cool, I saw the review saying it looked like the much loved Commandos game, for £6.99 what did I have to lose?
Using an M1 Max Studio, it looks superb even on the recommended Medium settings (4K 60Hz display).
But while the grapphics are great, its the storyline and gameplay that will grab you.
Controls are with a fairly intuitive mouse, keyboard layout, (MMB is used so is the space, CMD and WSDA), best of all is the first mission, which acts as the tutorial, It has a Metal Gear Solid on the old PSX quality, I am hooked already. This is quite possibly the best £6.99 I have ever spent, its reamrkably cheap for the quality, game design, graphics, sound and storyline. This isnt a game, its proof the Mac can game, its a loveletter to the Mac and its users from the developer
Basically, just buy it, buy it now and thank me later.

To the developer, thank you so much for this and thank you for bringing it to the Mac.

Update, and to make it even better, the £6.99 also gets you the iPad version. Speechless

Commandos on steroids

At first glance it looks like the old Commandos game with modern graphics but after playing it for a while I have been surprised by the quality of the story supported by beautiful short animated movies. Also gameplay has been enhanced with many new features which make the game challenging and fun.

A Game of Art

I think if you played Commandos before, there is no question to try it.
Otherwise I can say that runs realy well, and it is simply beautiful. The story line is amazing. The gameplay is quite difficult to get used to, but it's worth the learning curve. The game is pure art.

I do recommand it!
