A Chinese firm pledges to boost Cambodia-China direct flights

A Chinese firm, Yunnan Investment Holding Group, has pledged to further boost direct flights between Cambodia and China.

The pledge was made by Mr. Qiu Lujun, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Yunnan Investment Holding Group in charge of the construction of Siem Reap International Airport, in a meeting with Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism here in Phnom Penh recently.

The direct flight will link main cities and provinces of China to Cambodia’s Siem Reap province after completion of the construction of Siem Reap International Airport.

The flights from cities in Yunnan province including Xishuangbanna/Sipsongpanna to Siem Reap province will attract more Chinese tourists to Cambodia, Mr. Qiu Lujun continued.

The chairperson also promised to help encourage more investors to Cambodia.

H.E. Thong Khon supported the Yunnan Investment Holding Group’s cooperation and will assign a Cambodian technical team to work on the details with the firm.

The minister requested the firm to mull the establishment of new tourism products in Siem Reap to attract tourists to the province, highlighting the Siem Reap provincial tourism development master plan focusing on six development areas including Angkor region and surrounding areas, old Siem Reap city, Kulen Mountain, Banteay Srei, Tonle Sap River, and new Siem Reap city areas.

The two sides also discussed about the attraction of Chinese tourists through a high-speed railway connecting Sipsongpanna with Vientiane and Phnom Penh to increase the flow of tourists’ between China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and other countries. AKP-Lim Nary
