Timely Warning: Attempted Vehicle Theft
Description:
A timely warning is being issued in connection to recent attempted motor vehicle thefts.
At approximately 12:22 this morning, October 23, 2023, two male individuals attempted to steal a vehicle that belonged to a Lehigh student in the 500 block of Montclair Ave.
One of the two individuals was described as wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, but no other notable features of the individuals were available. The individuals left the area after being seen during the attempted theft by the student who then reported the incident to police.
The Lehigh University Police Department is assisting the Bethlehem Police Department with the investigation.
Additionally, bike/vehicle thefts and attempted thefts have been reported in the area recently, including in the 500 block of Packer Avenue and the 400 block of Taylor Street.
We remind students to:
-Please keep all cars and garages locked and secured.
-Bikes should be locked or stored securely and garages should be fully secured and locked.
-Keep porch lights on and keep outside areas well-lit when it is dark outside.
-Do not leave electronic devices or other valuables unattended or in plain view.
-Be sure to contact your landlord for any issues with the locks or lighting.
-If any students are having difficulties with their landlords over these issues, they can contact the Lehigh University Police Department and we will provide assistance however we can.
-Students who see anything in their neighborhood that seems suspicious should report it to the Lehigh University Police Department or the Bethlehem Police Department.
