GEORGE TOWN: The five-year-old girl who was reported missing in Penaga was found about 2km away and had sustained multiple injuries to her body.
However, police have so far ruled out foul play.
Penang police chief Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said after the girl was reported missing on Saturday (May 27) after leaving her home in Taman Kuala Muda since Friday (May 26) afternoon, police had launched an operation which included the Fire and Rescue Department and local residents.
"The public found the girl in a weak condition by the road in Permatang Keriang at about 6pm Saturday.
"She was immediately sent to Kepala Batas Hospital, where she was found to have a fractured jaw, along with scuffs to her chin and back of her head, bruises on body, and two broken teeth.
"The cause of injury is still being investigated as she is still traumatised, though we have yet to find signs of foul play," Khaw said during a press conference at the state contingent police headquarters on Monday (May 29).
He urged those with information on this matter to assist in investigations.
