KOTA TINGGI: A pair of siblings died on the spot after their car collided with another vehicle here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the accident took place at KM58 Jalan Sungai Rengit-Kota Tinggi at around 10.45am on Thursday (Feb 1).

"The car, driven by a 21-year-old man, collided with a 4WD vehicle.

"The male victim was driving and his sister sat in the front passenger’s seat. Their 60-year-old mother and the female victim’s five-year-old son were in the back seat," he said in a statement.

After the collision, both victims in the front seats were stuck to their seats.

They suffered from severe abdominal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

"The elderly woman and her grandchild were also injured during the crash and have been sent to Hospital Kota Tinggi for emergency treatment.

"They are currently on oxygen support," Supt Hussin said, adding that the driver of the four-wheeler, a 56-year-old Indonesian man, was unharmed during the incident.

The case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death which carries a jail term of five to 10 years and a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000, and suspension of driver’s licence of not less than five years upon conviction, he added.
