Middle School students across all Greene County school districts converge to showcase their ability to build, fly, and code FTW Robotic's new Hopper drones through various showcase and competition events.
Today it often seems like students are technology experts, capable of navigating new devices and programs with ease. But can they build these technologies? Do they have the skills necessary to transition from builder to user to developer? Do they know what career opportunities lie ahead for students with this knowledge?
School districts across Greene County have partnered with FTW Robotics and Innovation Institute 4 Tomorrow through the support of EQT and The EdVenture Group to provide yet another opportunity to bring the county schools together through the introduction of an innovative idea that can lead to sustainability within each district.
Previously, through the support of EQT Foundation and The EdVenture Group, the districts were able to pilot eSports in each of the county schools and hosted an on-site countywide competition. The experience built support to sustain the creation and implementation of more formal eSports programs that compete in leagues across the Commonwealth.
Through this partnership, middle school students will be allowed to learn to build, fly, and code the newest drone, the Hopper, and the curriculum offerings from For The Win Robotics. Students will be able to showcase their skills through a culminating off-campus experience.
The Innovation Institute 4 Tomorrow has worked closely with PATTAN and FTW Robotics in helping to spread drone programming into school districts, especially those in a rural setting. II4T This program fills the gap in the Commonwealth map regarding drone instruction in schools. II4T strives to turn the Rust Belt into the Smart Belt through robotics, AI, and computer science. Through II4T’s support, each district is fully equipped with drones and has taken on the role of showcase/competition planner for our Rural Wings 2024 event.
