The Golden Age of Radio broadcasts spanned from the early 1920s and lasted through the 1950s, but its popularity continues as evidenced by the ubiquitous ‘nostalgia’ stations that devote several hours daily to air vintage programs, mostly leading variety shows.

Kristine Ohkubo’s new book, “From Girdle Maker to Water Commissioner - THE GREAT GILDERSLEEVE: The Pioneering Spin-off Program That Made Broadcast History!” will assuredly add to the enthusiasts of this trailblazing show and in old-time entertainment generally.

This thoroughly researched book is replete with photographs and intimate biographies of the show’s cast as well as unrevealed behind-the-scenes anecdotes. It is an engaging and affectionate tribute to an innocent bygone era told by a master storyteller.
