Webinar

The Department of English Language and Literature hosted a webinar to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Independence on March 31, 2021. The Chief Guest of the program was Mr. Kazi Zahedul Hasan, Chairman BoT, Central Women’s University. The Chairperson of Sociology, Dr. Maleka Begum, the Chairperson of the Department of English Language and Literature, Mr. Abdus Selim, and Mr. Elias Ahmed Registrar, Central Women’s University also shared their views.

A selection of the play titled, Ebong Promila: Ekush theke Ekattor was enacted by Nazifa Bashir, Maisha Iqbal Khan, and Jayed Ul Ehsan. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Perween Hasan gave her concluding remarks. This program was moderated by Mr. Asif Nawaz, Senior Lecturer, Department of English Language and Literature. Deepto Television provided all the technical assistance in hosting this program live from the Facebook pages of both DeeptoTv and Central Women’s University.

Webinar on Bangabandhu's Life and Work

The English Club of Central Women's University hosted a webinar titled "Bangabandhu's Life and Work"; on August 31, 2020. Veteran journalist and writer, Mr. Syed Badrul Ahsan was the Chief Guest of the program. The program contained speeches from Mr. Kazi Zahedul Hasan, Chairman BoT, Mr. Abdus Selim, Associate Professor & Chairperson, Department of English Language and Literature, and Mr. Elias Ahmed, Registrar, Central Women’s University. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Perween Hasan gave her concluding remarks.

Selected sections of the play titled Shotoborshi Sommilon, jointly written by Abdus Selim and Jayed Ul Ehsan were enacted in the program by Ms. Nusrat Mouri and Mr. Jayed Ul Ehsan. This program was moderated by Mr. Asif Nawaz, Senior Lecturer, Department of English Language and Literature. Inter-Department Online Writing Contest 2021

The English Club of Central Women’s University has organized the Inter-Department Online Writing Contest 2021 with an aim to encourage students’ to express their ideas beyond their academic boundaries. This event was conducted online on April 26, 2021. It was an exciting contest as most of the participants tried their best to win.

A panel of five teachers has blind-reviewed the scripts and chosen the final three winners. Amina Jahan Abbasi won the contest. The two runners-up are Ajijia Mujib Nisa (2nd) and Noshin Taranoom (3rd).
