Amid the ongoing feud between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the royal family, Princess Anne has reportedly chosen to maintain a distance from the situation for political reasons.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their senior royal roles four years ago, and tensions between them and the rest of the royal family have escalated over time. Despite Prince Harry's recent visit to his father, Prince Charles, who is battling cancer, the rift appears to remain unresolved.
Royal commentator Sarah Vine suggested that Princess Anne, known for her straightforward demeanor, could potentially help mediate the ongoing conflict by engaging directly with Harry and Meghan.
“I think [Princess Anne] is the solution to all the Royal Family's problems,” Vine commented on GB News. “If you received a call from Princess Anne, you would certainly take it seriously. If I were the King, I'd say, ‘Anne, please handle this.’”
However, fellow royal commentator Gareth Russell expressed reservations about this idea, pointing out potential political implications.
Speaking on GB News, Russell stated that a royal visit to the US to meet with Harry might be perceived as an attempt to "lure him back" into the fold, which could be met with skepticism by the British public.
“I don't believe that would be a popular move among many Britons,” Russell added, emphasizing the potential political ramifications for the monarchy.
Russell suggested that for true reconciliation to occur, Prince Harry should spend more time in the United Kingdom, something he has expressed a desire to do.
