The Graham School Hosts Prom Fundraising Event at Skate Zone 71

Tuesday, March 12th, 2024

In anticipation of this year’s prom, The Graham School hosted a fundraising event at Skate Zone 71 from 5:00 - 8:30 pm. Students learned about how a fundraiser can be a useful tool in raising money for an otherwise costly event. Cost of admission, including the discounted skate rental fee for The Graham School students, will contribute partly to the budget for their Black & White Ball, scheduled to take place at Mozart’s on High Street, on Friday, May 3rd, from 7:00 - 10:00 pm.

The event had a great turn out, and several of the attendees are part of LTWLA. Coach Alyson came to stir interest in a prom committee in which event planning and leadership skills would come to play. She encouraged this participation and stated it could be a great addition to their resumes.

Coach Alyson enjoyed seeing Trinity and Ta’Mya (pictured above on the left) out on the rink; they were happy to contribute knowing it was for a larger goal. Jesus Manuel contributed to the fundraiser by bringing a friend (pictured above on the right).

Coach Alyson also ran into Zyauna, who was glad to see her peers, with everyone eagerly anticipating prom night on the horizon. Another fellow Lead The Way student, Qua’Jenee, brought her two younger sisters to come skate with the big kids (pictured above on the left). She was proud to give them a fun experience, and she knew paying their entry was a great boost to the prom fund. Jocelyn showed up with her peer, Israel, to support the cause, and they were both glad for the school’s concrete efforts to raise money (pictured above on the right).

The enjoyment of the night wasn't limited to the students. Dean Kate (pictured above on the left) and two other staff members, Kiara and Shaina (pictured above on the right), also joined the festivities along with their young children. This was another meaningful way for them to contribute to the upcoming prom event.

LTWLA is proud to share a QR code for donations, which will support decorations, event space fees, and efforts to make prom ticket prices as affordable and equitable as possible. Here’s to an exciting milestone event for The Graham School's Class of ‘24!
