Description: Join a cohort of teachers from across the Chicagoland region in a three-day teacher institute focused on exploring Asian American histories in K-12 classrooms. The institute
is designed to support teachers implementing the TEAACH Act into their curriculums by featuring a lecture and discussion by Asian American Studies scholar Dr. Meredith Oda of the University of Nevada, a workshop with Asian Americans Advancing Justice, as well as sense making opportunities with educator peers across school districts. Participants will gain a foundational knowledge about Asian American histories, access to immediately usable digital history tools, and exposure to a variety of pedagogical approaches to meaningfully engage students.
This event is made possible through the generous support of the Japanese American Community Foundation and the Polk Brothers Foundation. Participants will be provided with a $100/day stipend as well as lunch all three days. Priority consideration will be given to those who fill out the form by Friday, June 30th.
We are glad to support accessibility accommodations if requested.
