Presentation of Ukrainian Decolonial Glossary
The first presentation of the project and the official launch of the website https://decolonialglossary.com.ua/ which takes place in the city of Utrecht (Netherlands) on the basis of the art institution BAK (basis voor actuele kunst). 📓Panelists: Maria Hlavajova Anastasia Omelianiuk, Mariia Vtorushina, Mariia Kardash, Viktoriia Hryvina. 📓Moderator: Yuliia Elyas. This panel discussion addresses the issue of the postcolonial state in Ukraine, and also critically examines the existing narratives about Eastern Europe in Western European art institutions and highlights how these narratives can be co-present in the circumstances that have led to this moment. This conversation will take place during the presentation of the decolonial glossary, which is itself a collection of concepts responding to these challenges. During the last two years, Ukrainians, finding themselves among the harsh realities of the colonial war, had to confirm their right to decolonization, which was accompanied by the demand to legitimize the use of decolonial and postcolonial vocabulary. Through this conversation, we aim to collectively delve into the use of decolonial perspectives and explore the role of the Ukrainian experience in shaping global discourse. Ukrainian Decolonial Glossary is supported by the European Union under the House of Europe programme.
