The Ubiquitous They: A Novel Kindle Edition
Enter the man in black. He is a gaunt figure, pale skin, his tailcoat draped behind him like a pair of folded wings. He comes into the Weyer home claiming good intentions—but now no one can make him leave. As his grip tightens around Sara’s family and madness descends, the terrifying consequences of her work will finally be revealed.
In the world after, in a land of a reddening sun and endless quakes, Sara wakes one night surrounded by gunmen and Corson, their towering leader. They pursue something Corson calls the vermilion—whose identity only he knows. If they divert for long, a piercing sound batters their minds, forcing them toward an unknown destination. No one knows the source of this scream or why it calls. But they must find it soon, for a planet-sized inferno barrels toward them like a storm.
The world before.
The world after.
Worlds will meet. The fabric will tear. And only then will the nightmare begin.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2023I really enjoyed The Ubiquitous They. The book is packed with suspense and intrigue mixed in with a few hidden gems and Easter eggs. These gems had me looking up literary and mathematical concepts with fun and excitement. (E.g. What is a mobius strip?)
This good versus evil story story is told in first person as experienced by each family member visited upon by the mysterious “Banner”. Each shares their unique perspective and experience in a way that endeared them to me. The father in the story had me laughing out loud!
Every good story leaves the reader wanting a little more, and The Ubiquitous They certainly filled that expectation. Building on the success of his first two novels, Benjamin and The High Ones, The Ubiquitous They showcases Mr. Scheige’ unique storytelling style and I am hoping for more!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2023I applaud Robert Scheige on his latest masterpiece. I thoroughly enjoyed this epic thriller based on ancient demonic writings and beliefs. Scheige does a masterful job of blending parallel story lines all the while rendering various characters’ perspectives. If you crave mysteries with time/mind-bending sci-fi with a sprinkling of horror this will quench your thirst. It is only a matter of time when this will be picked up by a movie/production house - for it has the ingredients for a blockbuster serial.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2024Author Robert Scheige has masterly introduced a mind-bending world that starts innocently enough as a family wedding and evolves into a visual nightmare, where grotesque villains and animals rule. The only hope for humans rests on the shoulders of a mathematical genius whose motherly concerns may signal her demise. A riveting read!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2023I really enjoyed the character development and the integration of time throughout the story. I could feel the heat and hear the crunching and chittering. Is there a sequel, or a prequel in the works?
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2023While the book presents a deeply dark dystopian future, you later find out why and it's worth the wait. Early on, the transition from one character's point of view to another left me feeling like I was trying to put together a puzzle without the picture, but I believe that was the intent. As I got to know all of the characters, the story line unfolded and I found the world Scheige created fascinating. At many points while reading I branched out to Wiki to discover the documents used to support the story actually existed, creating even more intrigue. Scheige's research helped to enhance the believability of the story line and kept me engaged. Would it be *irrational* to ask for a sequel?
- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2023This story takes you on a wild ride back and forth in time through the eyes of each main character. The author has clearly researched much of the imagery and metaphors, from geology to astrophysics to number theory to medicine. I usually don’t read fiction, but this book kept me engaged.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2023I loved Robert Scheige's last book, The High Ones, so I was eager to read this one. The story drew me in immediately with it's unique style of character perspective. The story is dark, it might not be for everyone, but it was a great read.
