In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I went to a friends family party when I was a kid. As we entered the house I could hear loud music playing. I thought it was a stereo but it was his cousins band. I had never heard live music before. That moment changed my life and moved me to play. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Frank Zappa, Apostrophe (') Stevie Wonder, Talking Book (Reissue) The Monkees, The Monkees (Deluxe Edition) The Monkees are the first band I ever loved and to this day bring me the greatest joy. Talking Book is one of several Stevie Wonder records that make me feel happy to be alive. Apostrophe is the first Frank Zappa record I ever heard, he is my hero. Tell us why you chose this song. “Evie the Queen of the Insects” This is the title song to a soundtrack record inspired by my daughter. I love this song because it captures a very special time as well as the magic of being little. I also think it shows just how much I love being her Dad and being a songwriter. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The recording of my first children's record Things I Like was the most unexpectedly wonderful time of my life. Everything aligned and everyone involved had the most fun and productive experience and gave some of their best performances. True magic. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'm hoping to have my Evie album adapted into a musical theater production. Beyond that I have all kinds of new music that I'm recording as well as my kids and family podcast that I love making. I want all of it to reach new and open ears.
