About the author

After attending Westmont College in Santa Barbara, T. Martin Bennett served as vice president of a nonprofit company with Keith Green, a leading recording artist, public speaker, and writer. He later co-founded a manufacturing company that grew to over 100 employees, 20 million dollars a year in sales, and won the national Small Business Administration Entrepreneur of the Year award.
In 2005, Bennett stumbled across rare information about Mitsuo Fuchida, the Japanese pilot who led the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Tennessee-based author, screenwriter, and entrepreneur says, “I’d never heard a single word about Fuchida, other than that he was a villain.” But as he started researching Fuchida’s life, Bennett knew he had to tell this incredible story. He said, “If it weren’t true, it would be hard to believe, but it is true.” After three years of research, Bennett first penned this as a feature-length, epic screenplay—later novelized into book form.
The result is the amazing true story, "Wounded Tiger," Bennett’s vivid, cinematic novel that has been called "an extraordinary story" by Associate Producer for The Last Samurai, Yôko Narahashi, and "epic, compelling, and inspirational" by Wayne Jacobsen, author, pastor and collaborator on the multimillion bestseller "The Shack."
"Wounded Tiger" is an unbelievably true story of three incredibly different people whose lives connect in remarkable ways. This captivating, intense, and masterfully written story of war, defeat, and triumph will challenge your perspectives and may lead you to question your own battles in life and perhaps bring an answer or two.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2024Mitsuo Fuchida was the lead pilot in the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was praised throughout Japan and was even granted an audience with the Emperor. After the war, he became a simple farmer. Instead of killing, he planted seeds and grew crops. This experience started the transformation in his iife. He experienced the miracle of new life. He began to wonder what strength of spirit supported the Americans captured in the Philippines to calmly pray and face execution by Japanese soldiers. He knew he wanted and needed that inner strength and he found it: Christianity. Though he was reviled by many Japanese for adopting the religion of the Americans, he gave testimonials for Christ and even went on world tours. He had a deep friendship with Jacob DeShazer, an American pilot captured by the Japanese and mistreated. But DeShazer went on to forgive his captors. He even went on to do a speaking tour in Japan. What incredible forgiveness! A story that will live in your heart. I've heard that the author wants to have a movie made this book. What a great idea.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2024As one who has written history and biography, I stand in awe at the personal and historical detail that the author has retrieved. He has brought out remarkable, confirmed details of several World War II events that have not been seen before, even in the best researched books.
The author has, with great and powerful skill, realistically inter spaced the stories of the main characters. I know from personal experience how hard it is to get all the facts lined up and tied together in such cases. It has been done here, both seamlessly and fascinatingly.
The spiritual stories are told without embellishment or false emotion, letting them speak for themselves in all their amazing power.
Knowing of some of the history and persons addressed in the book, I thought it would be something of a nice but mild story. Was I ever wrong! I am an inveterate reader of history and novels, and this true life story is one of the most gripping and engaging that I have read!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2024A This is a classic . I missed reading the first edition years ago. …. T. Martin Bennett is to be congratulated for an extraordinary work … related to people on all sides of World War Two. We will never advance as humans on earth unless we can learn to live together , forgive one another and reconcile . It will be a great movie. This book is extraordinary in the sense of telling a story of personal family situations with many photo images throughout… makes the narrative even more interesting. I am a student of history . I collect books. I appreciate great writing. I enthusiastically encourage others to consider reading and buying this book! I sincerely hope we see more from T. Marin Bennett!! Thanks too to The Publisher, Dynamis.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2024This book is excellent. Short chapters direct to the point. The Japanese people were misled by a corrupt government and complicit press. Sound familiar?
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2024I met Mitsuo Fuchida in 1970 when I was a waiter at the original Old Spaghetti Factory in Portland Oregon. He was in the lounge by the bar with a large party waiting to be seated. I was goimg back and forth to the bar, getting drinks for my customers, and kept hearing them calling him “Mits” or “Reverend Fuchida”. I’d read “Day of Infamy” by Walter Lord at Punahou in 8th Grade, and thought “Mits… Mits Fuchida…” On my third or fourth trip to the bar, curiosity overcame silence, and I told his interpreter “Excuse me Sir, but I couldn’t help overhearing your group refer to this Gentleman as Mits or Rverend Fuchida. If I’m not mistaken, Commander Mitsuo Fuchida led the attack on Pearl Harbor—“ At that point, Revered Fuchida, who understood English better than he could speak it, looked up in my eyes, and with a sad smile said in heavily accented English
“Zattu wasu me.” I was holding a tray wiith drinks.
Reverend Fuchida brought his hand up toward me as if he was offering to shake it, but noting that my hands were full, quickly withdrew it as we both shrugged slightly and chuckled at the inability to shake hands. For a fleeting moment I imagined dumping my drinks on him, but quelled the thought as his interpreter told me he had given his life over to the Gospel of Christ, and was now an Evangelical Minister, here in Portland for a Crusade. I still consider that moment as one of the most remarkable in my life so far. And reading “Wounded Tiger” has certainly reaffirmed the Miracle of God’s Love
in my own Heart, Mind, Body, Soul and Spirit.

5.0 out of 5 stars This true account proves God's grace has no boundaries. A must read for everyone.
My wife bought me this book as a gift. I've known about Fuchida Mitsuo and Jacob DeShazer's story for over 30 years and have read numerous books and articles about these men and the people surrounding this powerful multi-front testimony of God's grace. This new book Wonded Tiger takes all of it to another level of historic recounting and personal eye witnessing. The author does a superb job of connecting the time line dots and getting you to know each person inwardly with bold sincerity. God's grace bleeds through this book. One of the redemption story greats of the 20th century that we know of.
So glad these stories are in good hands without compromise. Thank you!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2024This book is impossible to put down! It should be made into a major motion picture. I met Captain Fuchida when I was a junior in high school. He was speaking at our church and my parents invited him to dinner. What a dear and humble man. I just found out about this book and read it through in less than two full days. I had never been able to understand the culture of the Japanese until I discovered this incredible book. It is a MUST READ!

5.0 out of 5 stars Christ’s Plan Through Forgivness
We pray and listen. Many hear only silence, but when Christ is in our hearts Christ’s words are loud and clear. This book illustrates Christ’s saving grace particularly for the Japanese people. We give thanks.
God certainly has a plan for not only us as individuals, but for our nations. The cornerstone is forgiveness.
