The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday issued a show cause notice to party MP Ramesh Bidhuri for using unparliamentary words against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Kunwar Danish Ali in Lok Sabha. Ramesh Bidhuri had made objectionable remarks against BSP leader Kunwar Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

The remarks of Ramesh Bidhuri, who represents South Delhi, have been expunged.

The BJP has sought a response from Bidhuri as to why disciplinary action should not be initiated against him for using unparliamentary language.

Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Danish Ali said he would consider giving up his Lok Sabha membership if action is not taken against Ramesh Bidhuri.

"When this is the condition of an elected member like me, then what will be the condition of a common man? I hope I will get justice and the Speaker will conduct an enquiry. Or else, with a heavy heart, I will think about leaving this Parliament because this can't be tolerated,” the BSP leader said.

Ramesh Bidhuri's remark sparked outrage, with the opposition leaders calling for strict action against him. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh demanded Bidhuri's suspension from Parliament, saying that the language used by him "should not be used inside or outside Parliament".

Jairam Ramesh also hit out at former Union ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Harsh Vardhan and accused them of being “shamelessly gleeful” at the speech made by Ramesh Bidhuri.

“Two former Union Cabinet Ministers, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Dr. Harsh Vardhan, shamelessly gleeful at the hate speech made by their party colleague Ramesh Bidhuri yesterday in the Lok Sabha. They deserve as much condemnation as the most awful Bidhuri himself. This is the shameful level to which BJP under Modi-Shah has fallen,” Jairam Ramesh said on X.

Earlier today, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla took "serious note" of objectionable comments made by Ramesh Bidhuri in the House and warned him of "strict action" if such behaviour is repeated in the future.
